Binance enters European markets and launches Binance Jersey
JERSEY Jan. 15, 2019 – Binance today announced the launch of the Binance Jersey exchange, which allows cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum to be traded for Euros (EUR) and British Pounds (GBP) in Europe and the United Kingdom. The new exchange, Binance.je, launched in Jersey amid strong growth in the crypto industry on the island, where the first regulated Bitcoin fund opened back in 2014, will focus on Europe.
“Expanding the market by launching cryptocurrency trading for fiat money opens up new opportunities for Europeans and also gives them freedom from the growing uncertainty with Brexit affecting the euro and pound,” said Ju Wei, CFO of Binance, “Binance Jersey will allow us to build a crypto-fiat channel into Europe and the UK as part of our global expansion and support broader adoption of cryptocurrencies.
Binance believes that Jersey will be a major force in the growing use of cryptocurrencies in the European market.
“Jersey already has the legal and regulatory environment that Binance Jersey meets,” says Ju, “Jersey is an undeniable innovator in blockchain technology development, with a strong legislative base and talent. Binance Jersey hopes to strengthen Jersey’s banking advantages over other jurisdictions competing for crypto business because of the appropriate regulation here.”
In June 2018, Binance partnered with Digital Jersey to develop initiatives to support the growing ecosystem in Jersey. Binance Jersey is also part of a collaborative effort to ensure growth.
Trading pairs on the new exchange will include BTC/GBP, ETH/GBP, BTC/EUR and ETH/EUR. Binance will allow users to trade on the fiat exchange immediately after completing a verification (KYC) at www.binance.je.
